Comfort and practicality

Interior

The attractions of the Splash become apparent the moment you get in, the higher seating positions making a big difference from other compact cars. Visibility is excellent, and the feeling of spaciousness (realized partly by the tall body) is pleasing. Even passengers in the back enjoy comfortable seating and an appealingly designed environment.

Seats

Fabric-covered seats with pronounced sides provide comfort on long journeys and firm hold on bends, and the 60:40-split rear seatback is easy to reconfigure for luggage-carrying convenience.

Dashboard

Coloured surfaces for the dashboard create a youthful, casual look in the area of the passenger airbag and the upper part of the instrument cluster. Together with high-quality materials and a metallic-silver border on the centre console, they treat occupants to a pleasingly fresh ambience. The cockpit reflects a “less is more” approach, forming a stylish, functional space without superfluous flourishes or gimmicks. A large speedometer positioned centrally behind the steering wheel is easy to read and has all of the indicator lamps arranged around it. A digital liquid crystal display (LCD) is positioned in the lower half of the speedometer and gives the driver additional information. In certain grades, a tachometer is separately mounted on the dashboard. A multifunction display (additionally available in certain grades) giving the outside temperature, fuel consumption, and other information can be integrated into the speedometer.

Switches and levers

All switches and levers are positioned for intuitive use. The number of buttons is minimal, allowing for fewer distractions and thus raising safety. The shift lever is ergonomically shaped and is positioned relatively high in the centre console to minimise its distance from the steering wheel and permit extra storage space. Plus, the heating and air conditioning are controlled using three dials that are clearly marked and easy to operate.

Luggage area

In certain grades, a removable luggage-area floor conceals a further 36-litre compartment (VDA) that is ideal for muddy boots or similar items. A wide, high-swinging tailgate gives easy access to the luggage area, and the rear shelf can be unhooked with just a few hand movements. Should more space be needed, the rear seat can be folded down to create a capacity as great as 1,050 litres (as measured by Suzuki), putting the Splash among the mini-MPV category leaders in terms of luggage-carrying convenience.

Storage compartments

Convenient storage spaces for small items are located around the cabin. A bottle holder is incorporated into each door, and additional ones (with 0.5-litre and 1.5-litre capacities) are positioned in front of and behind the handbrake lever. In the top-centre area of the dashboard, there’s a lidded compartment that’s ideal for handkerchiefs or small tools. In the passenger side of the dashboard, there’s a lidded glove box topped by an open compartment. Plus, there’s a compartment located beneath the climate controls that is suitable for storing either a wallet or a mobile telephone.

Colours and upholstery

The Splash is available in a choice of 10 fresh colours, eight of which have a metallic finish. Two of the colours – Splash Green and Lagoon Turquoise 2 – were developed by Suzuki specifically for the Splash. In combination with the body colour and grade, there are four cabin-trim colour schemes: turquoise, blue, black and gray.
