Suzuki has introduced a brand-new car with everything needed for urban family transportation: an attractive styling, a colourful interior, economical performance, an extensive safety package, technological refinements, excellent riding qualities and plenty of comfort. Called the Splash, it’s an emotionally appealing mini multipurpose vehicle (mini-MPV) that represents a departure from the purely practicality-oriented, boxy models on the road today. As the first model in the second phase of Suzuki’s world strategy (a phase focused on delivering expanded possibilities for families), the Splash is a sprightly runabout with the balance of utility, comfort, economy and looks that today’s families desire. And although it was developed from scratch for European customers, it carries the mini-MPV genes of Suzuki’s hugely successful Japanese model, the Wagon R. The Splash made its world debut at the 2007 International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt.

Concept

The Splash is aimed mainly at urban, practical people with modern lifestyles, and it reflects the ideals of the second phase of Suzuki’s world strategy - a phase in which Suzuki is focusing not just on sportiness (as it did, for example, with the Swift) but also on the needs of families. Couples and young families in the market for compact cars want a sporty, fresh design coupled with practical attributes such as roominess, flexibility and economy. Suzuki has responded by making the Splash live up to its name with a pleasantly surprising blend of youthfulness and freshness, clean urban mobility and economic advantages that include limited parking-space requirements, high resale values, generous warranty terms and low maintenance costs.
