Powertrain

Power in the Kizashi comes from a 2.4-litre DOHC inline-four petrol engine that combines potent performance (maximum output: North America 138kW/6,500rpm, Others 131kW/6,500rpm. maximum torque: 230N・m/4,000rpm) with fuel efficiency. Customers can choose between a CVT, which further promotes fuel economy without detracting from the driving experience, and a six-speed manual transmission that’s tuned for true driving enthusiasts.

Body and suspension

An exceptionally rigid steel unibody forms the basis for great handling and a smooth ride. Straight underfloor members and comprehensively reinforced joints play an important role in promoting torsional rigidity, and reinforced pillars contribute to rigidity above the belt line. Engine mounts and suspension mounts are also keys to the body’s high rigidity. Reinforced MacPherson-strut front suspension and multilink rear suspension afford crisp, nimble handling with excellent stability and low chassis vibration. The suspension subframes contribute to levels of quietness and ride comfort. In line with the Kizashi’s position as Suzuki’s flagship model, NVH levels are uncommonly low thanks not only to superior body rigidity and suspension efficiency but also to sound-insulating and -absorbing materials.

Worldwide testing and tuning

The Kizashi’s performance and handling reflect the benefits of testing and tuning conducted in diverse conditions around the world: Engineers put the Kizashi through cold-weather trials in Minnesota and hot-weather trials in Death Valley. They honed the car’s handling on challenging country roads in the United Kingdom and on autobahns and the Nürburgring in Germany.
