Safety Support Car is the nickname given to the recommendations of a public-private partnership, which includes the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). These recommendations apply to driver support functions on vehicles equipped with advanced safety technologies, such as autonomous braking. The Safety Support Car S (Sapo Car S) category, which is composed of three sub-categories, includes vehicles that are equipped with additional safety features that help prevent misuse of the accelerator and brake pedals.
